September : Mark: Witness to the Ultimate Jewish Life
Wednesdays in September (September 9.16. 23, 30) at 7:00 PM Eastern
The Gospel or Besorah of Mark is the earliest account we have of the life and teachings of Yeshua the Messiah and displays much evidence of eyewitness testimony. Often overlooked alongside the magisterial accounts of Matthew, Luke, and John, Mark is ready for rediscovery today, especially within the Messianic Jewish world. It is firmly rooted in the Jewish world of its time, even though it is often thought to be the Gospel for the Gentiles or for the Romans. Mark’s skillful use of story to convey deep theological and moral truths reflects the narrative technique of the Torah itself and is inherently Jewish—as well as deeply fitting for our postmodern times. Rabbi Resnik will lead a lively, interactive discussion of several highly relevant texts in the Besorah of Mark, based on his recent commentary, Mark: Witness to the Ultimate Jewish Life (www.messianicjewish.net).
